July 2008

It has been a long time ago that I wrote a newsletter for our English fans and supporters. Iam sorrry for that. I will keep you updated now.

After our stay in the Netherlands from December 30th till April 30th we returned to Kenya and this time we we came to settle in Kenya. We stayed for one month in the orphanage in Mtwapa till we found a house. We moved to Nyali where we found the perfect house to run our safari agency and the weddingplanner bureau. It is a quite big house with spacious sitting and dining, big indoors lounge, 4 bedrooms, an office and study room, three bath/showers and big compound. It will take time to make it a home away from home...

It was wonderful to be welcomed at the airport by the crew of Lioness Cubs and kids. We lived with them for one month, not easy after all the stress we went through in the Netherlands but good to see how the home was managed. The children are all ok. Maxwell is no longer with us. We agreed with his father that Maxwell will live again with his parents and sisters/b rothers after some serious issues at the home. He is doing well. He called us just some weeks ago to say thank you for all the good care and to inform us all is well. Johnson is growing taller and taller. He is still enjoying school at the Vision school in Mtwapa. The other children are going to Bambino.

We have a ' new' boy with the name Mzee Otieno. He is from another home . Mzee is 7 years old, a quiet good boy but unfortunatly doesnt speak English. All the other kids, Salome, Selina, Moris, Kipu, Dennis, Sylvester, Lucy, Faith, Moses, Gregory, Diana, Esther, Jamal, Dixon, David, Vincent, and Beatrice are doing very fine.

The home moved from Mtwapa to Kikambala. This was not planned and not our wish. We actually were hoping to stay in Mtwapa till we were having our own home ready in Kikambala to avoid to much moving and stress for the children. However recently the agent/ intermediair of the home called me to inform me that the ' lease was expired' and we had to move out. I was totally suprised as we didnt expect neither we were ready to move since this brings all extra expenses which we were not ready for in these difficult time. The last 6 months we had no visitors so no food donations, and no volunteers. However the agent forced us to vacant the house( with threats)  before 14th July and we so moved out on 5th. With the help of our collegues Ester of Green Olive childrens home,  William of Kikambala children home and Antony of Mwaketu we got a beautiful house with a beautiful compound located in Kikambala opposite primary school. It was really wonderful to get assistance of other childrens home founders ! The childen are very happy within the new home cause there is electricity and water which was no longer there in the previous house the last few weeks. We have employed Francis who is keeping the compound clean and in good shape.

Our visitors can call us to organise free transfer to the home to visit the children. Please call William 0728888772 or Irene 0723333834. If not reachable call Joseph 0725304463

We hereby want to thank our greatest supporters Edna and Brian for their endless support and never giving up on us. Thank you for not letting us down in the difficult time we went through lately after the trouble in Kenya. With your help the kids remained in school and food was always there.. we are grateful for all our sponsors in England and the Netherlands.
