Dear
readers, visitors, friends and new coming visitors,
Big
suprise when I got a call from Monica the taxi driver. She
had a visitor who wanted to visit the home and see me. Edna
and Brian Elliott our wonderful sponsors from England
suprised us with a visit. They stayed at Bamburi Beach Hotel
and visited us several times before leaving back to England.
We were spoiled with personal gifts, lots of shopping and
lots of fun. They are a very big support to us and even
during their holiday they were always busy telling others
about our home. They are wonderfull people who are
supporting us and other homes without any benefit at all.
Thank you Edna and Brian we do miss you very much.
Lioness
Cubs Home is doing well. We are grateful to all our visitors
who have visited the home in the last few months. We can not
mention them all by name however we have their names within
our visitors book. We would like to sent all our visitors a
card by the end of the year so we kindly request you to sent
us your post adres to
ireneokech@yahoo.com
The
schoolterm is almost ending. Another three weeks before the
school close down for about 4 weeks. All the children are
doing well in school. Salome, Selina, Morris and Maxwell are
going to St. Timothy school while the others are going to
Visual school. These are private schools. The public schools
were full at the time of admission and therefore they all go
to private school. It is possible to sponsor the children if
you like for their schoolfees.
The
youngest ones, Moses, Faith, Beatrice are still remaining at
home. They will go to school when they reach the age of 4
years. They stay home with the staff members Mugaga the care
taker, mama Jane the mama of the house, and Rama the cook.
We mostly have 4 or 5 volunteers but sometimes only 2 with
low seasons.
We
have welcomed another child with the name David since one
week. David is HIV infected and not in a very good health.
Living with his grandmother who is paralyzed on the left
arm, in Bombolulu the situation of the boy was to serious to
ignore. We were kindly requested by Susan of Women's Vision
to take a look at the boy living conditions. We took David
when we saw the dirty small room he lived in and the sick
grandmother. David is 8 years and started school since
yesterday at Visual.
We
hope to buy a plot soon. We have been seeing some options
but are waiting for the deal which will make our heart jump!
We hope that within this year we can start building the new
home to host about 40 children. In Kenya many children are
abandoned after birth. Many girls are raped or are to young
to take care after babies and dump them in pit latrined or
forest. In Kenya many men do believe when they have sexual
intercourse with a virgin as young as possible they will get
healed from aids. Recently I was reading a story which moved
me to tears: a father complained to the police that his wife
was neglecting the children. The police arrested the mother
and put her in jail. The same evening the father raped his 4
months!!!! young baby girl. The neighbours heard the baby
screaming and went to find out. They found the father in bed
with the badly injured baby.
Lioness
Cubs Centre is longing to expand its facilities to offer
these children a home where they will be good taken care of
and where they can heal from their injures. Therefore we
need your help and support. If you cant help us financially
please bring us baby clothes and items for these babies that
when we are having the new home we have everything we need
to start welcoming these children.
