About Us

it started in 1996 when I visited to Kenya for the first time..... the whole story here

The people behind the organisation: in Kenya we are registered as an orphans home since August 2000. In the board we have as the Chairlady / director Irene Okech- Haneveld. The secretary Catherine Mutua. We are located in North Mtwapa nearby Mombasa next to the Dancourt hotel. We have rented a big house with 6 rooms. There are at this moment 13 children living in this house. We have two previous streetchildren in Nairobi living independent and studying to become a safari cook and safari driver. James is already enjoying safaris as assistant cook. Lydia is a 23 years orphan who is living with us in the home. She gets pocket money and assist with the care of the children. ( Lydia left our home in July 2006 )

Vincent Obila is the manager in the home and Rama is the excellent cook and takes care of the washing of the childrens clothes! A hard worker with a joyfull mood! Vincent is experienced with working in NGO.

We have mostly 5 volunteers active in the house.

In the Netherlands we are registered as a foundation 'stichting S'Harity Friendship with Kenya ' We are sending volunteers to the home but also volunteers to homes of familys in need. These volunteers stay in our bungalows at 'Melrose Place' and bring food packages and clothes to familys in the slums and villages. They also assist with visits to hospital and take care of the children.
