Food of Kenya
In Kenya there are many different types of foods, we have both Western Menu and
the typical African menus. The western menu Includes the Italian foods Mainly
found in Italian Restaurants around e.g. Tratoria Restaurant, Italian
Restaurant, etc, Indian foods from Indian restaurants around, Chinees foods, and
the English foods which is the common foods in today’s generation and times,
from most of the Kenyan restaurants.
The typical African Foods are found not in many big restaurants but in small
hotels.
The most typical foods includes; Kienyeji food-which is made of Potatoes mashed
with either Beans/Peas or Maize and Pumpkin leaves. This together is fried with
onions and served with either beef stew of just stew and vegetables, normally
ordinary typical Kenyan would have that (only the Kienyeji) as the main and only
dish.
Irio
This is Mixture of Maize and beans cooked/boiled together, and salted to taste,
and in some parts fried with onions. Today this meal is made and served fried
with onion and tomatoes, this can also be served with any kinds of vegetables
or beef stew.
Meal/
Ugali
This is made of the Maize flour, and boiling water, To prepare it you just boil
water to the size that you want and then when it is boiling, stir the flour inn
making it thick to the soft level and continue cooking in the stirring form
until all the flour is tataly mixed with the and cooked together. This is
served either with vegetables, beef, or beans/peas chicken etc Mostly in many
African Bars and restaurants this meal is served with Nyama/Kuku Choma and
kachumbari(Salad)

This is the normal meat or chicken roasted, served with Ugali(Meal) and
Kachumbari (salad) it is the best ideal African food for people who are
drinking. The date is incomplete unless there is Nyamachoma.
Other typical african foods includes the Sweet potatoes, Pumpkins, Harrow
roots, yams etc all this are carbohydrates /starch foods, normal way of cooking
them is just boiling them but today’s time, people even fry them with Beef and
vegetables to make them more delicious.
