When your parents have booked a safari with ‘S’Harity Safari’s’ you are very lucky.

Maybe you found it very exciting to go on safari in Kenya, but that is not necessary at all!

The safari is mostly done in a minibus, that’s a little bus which can fit up to 9 people. We dont take more then 6 or 7 people so that everyone has a window seat! In the front will be the driver off course and the cook. You will sit in the back because the roof of the bus can be opened. When you stand in the bus (or on the seat) you can put out your head of the roof. At this position  you can watch all the animals in the parks. You have to be carefull though and not stick out your head to far cause you might hit a twig of a tree, or you might get hurt by a wild animal. In the park you have to be silent. Of course you can talk to others but dont shout and done try to get the attention from the animals by shouting to them or making loud noises. You are their visitor and you have to behave and respect the rules in the park. You should not throw any trash outside or throw food to the animals. It can make them very sick.

The driver and cook are friendly and you can laugh with them. They will tell you about the animals and about Kenya. If you want you can help the cook when he prepares the meals. Maybe you can learn some Swahili from them.

When you are on safari you will go into a park called a National Reserve or National Park. The driver of the bus will drive the bus into all kind of little sandy roads in the park. When there are animals close to the bus he stops and you can stand up. Then you watch the animals, make pictures and films. Sometimes, when there is a special animal like a lion or cheetah, there are also other busses. The animal is so special that everyone wants to see it. There are not a lot of lions left anymore in Kenya. And it is so sad to know that these days they still get killed by the Masai men cause the lions attack their cows and eat them. For a Masai their cows are very important so if it get killed by a lion they kill the lion and keep the manes of the lions as a trophy to show their friends. But what will Kenya be without lions?

Some people say that a safari-driver has got a special nose; he smells the animals, that’s how he can find them!

A drive through the park to see animals is called a game-drive. Most of the time you will go twice a day into the park to make a game-drive. In the morning and late afternoon most animals are active and awake, so this is the best time to search for them. If you go for a full day gamedrive we take the lunch with us and eat the lunch in a safe place.

When you are not driving around you are at the camp-side or in the lodge. You can relax then, do some games, sleep, read a book or sometimes swim in a pool. If you do a camping safaris there is no pool at the campsite but you can aks the driver to bring you the nearby lodge where they allow you to swim if you pay a fee.

At night when you sleep in a tent or lodge you will hear all kind of sounds. Animals go for hunting at night, so you will hear the sounds of hyena’s, lions and cheetah’s catching a prey.
Dont be afraid, the rangers are watching over your safety and no animals will enter your tent or room. You only have to be carefull if you want to visit the toilet at night at the campsite. You either stay close to your tent or you find someone to take you to the toilet. You are in a park and the wild animals are real !

If you have questions about the animals or anything else you like to know ask the driver or cook they will be happy to tell you a lot!

If you go to the beach after the safari you will find out that the beaches are different from ours. People dont lay at the beach, they go there for a walk or they swim in the sea. The beach is not crowded like our beaches. You can play football, basketbal or you enjoy the poolside entertainment of the hotel. Some hotels have plenty to do for children.

We wish you a very pleasant and happy wildlife experience and if you want to ask us something write an email to
